In-Ground Pool - Maintenance Tips

You may have dreamt big in getting your In-ground pool Morris County finally constructed according to everything you wanted. Like your house or your car, your pool needs routine maintenance. The routine work is to keep your pool sparkling clean, always attractive and always ready for use at any time of the day or night.

The idea of preventive maintenance will go a long way in reducing any lifecycle cost on your pool. This is aside from saving time and future efforts, and frustrations, maybe when disaster strikes all because of the simple neglect of maintaining your pool.

Pool chemistry

By this time, you are now well-equipped with the workings of your pool and the many things surrounding it. The first maintenance issue is checking your pool’s chemistry once or twice in a week (summer) and at least once every two weeks in winter.

The water’s pH must be around 7.2 and 7.8. (The lower the pH, the less chlorine it needs.) Controlling your water’s pH will make you use less chlorine.

Skimmers

Empty your skimmer baskets weekly or as needed. Skimmers skim the pool’s surface to prevent debris and others from becoming saturated and float down to the bottom of the pool.

Everything coming to your pool goes to the surface first, and your skimmers can skim stuff off the pool. Dump the contents of the basket as needed and keep it clean at all times.

Your in-ground pool also collects hair and lint and you need to clean out the pot every two weeks or as needed. This is the basket inside the clear glass in the pool’s pump.

Water level / inline chlorinator / ozonator

Your pool’s water level must be right at the center level of the pool skimmer. If the level is low, the pump runs dry and if it’s high, the skimmer won’t work correctly. The door keeps the debris inside the skimmer.

You need to check your inline chlorinator for correct chlorine tablet levels, and possible clogging. Make sure the light on your ozonator is on and is working. Ozone and UV (or their combination) can also reduce the chlorine amount on your pool.

If you have a chlorine generator, always keep it clean. It produces chlorine so you need not buy, store or handle it.

Filters / tile line

Again, like the other parts that accumulate debris or dirt, you need to clean your filters regularly (or as needed, anyway). Cartridge filters can provide good flow rates, and waste no excess water (there is no backwash).

Check on how to clean dirty filters using 10% muriatic acid solution or TSP (trisodium phosphate). You can do this every 4 to 6 months.

You also need to wipe and clean your tile line weekly to reduce the build-up of scum. With your water ph at consistent 7.2, the scum will have a harder time to develop. (When the pH is high, the water will deposit scum on everything.)

These are just some regular chores to maintain your In-ground pool Morris County to be at its best. You can always hire someone to maintain your pool but you have to know the things that he does.
